Pre-installation Checklist - Cookie Banner

In this guide, we will outline the basic requirements for setting up and installing AdOpt’s Cookie Banner. Everything you need to configure it correctly on all your websites. The process will be simple and straightforward, but to make it easier, we recommend having the following on hand:

1. Website URL and code access

  • The URL of the website where you will install AdOpt.
  • Access to the source code and/or your Tag Manager (used to add tags to the website's code).

2. List of third-party tags

2.1 If you already have full knowledge of all the tags (services that use cookies on your website), having them listed can help. Within AdOpt, we have a section where we scan your website so you can compare it with the information you already have.

2.2 If you don’t have this list ready yet, don’t worry! AdOpt's tag scanner will help you identify them. When creating the Cookie Banner, simply list URLs (selecting pages) where you believe different tags and cookies may be used. For example, you could list the homepage, a page with a video, a form page and a marketing campaign page. After listing these URLs and running the scanner, AdOpt will identify and compile all active tags on these pages for you.

2.3 After scanning, some tags will be automatically recognized and categorized by AdOpt according to standard market classifications and purposes.

2.4 Remember: the updated list of tags in use must be included in your Cookie Policy. So, make sure all tags are correctly categorized.

3. Cookie Policy

  • An official and up-to-date document for your company.
  • It must be available through a public link on your website or as a PDF file. Example:
    mywebsite.com/cookiepolicy/
    .
  • If you don’t have a Cookie Policy, use the Policy Generator tool within the Documents section of the Disclaimer. The advantage of using our technology is that it automatically updates your cookie list, eliminating the need for manual updates.

4. Privacy Policy

  • An official and up-to-date document for your company.
  • It must be available through a public link on your website or as a PDF file. Example:
    mywebsite.com/privacypolicy/
. - If you don’t have a Privacy Policy yet, use the Policy Generator tool within the Documents section of the Cookie Banner.

5. Terms of Use (non-essential)

  • The Cookie Banner can be published without Terms of Use, as they are not mandatory like the Cookie and Privacy Policies.
  • If you have this document ready, it must be available through a public link on your website or as a PDF file. Example:
    mywebsite.com/terms/
    .

6. Visual Identity (optional)

  • Your company's color palette, including HTML or Hexadecimal color codes. Example:
    #00D975
    .

7. Data Subject Request Form

AdOpt offers the option to automatically generate a request page with a fully customizable form for each registered website. Additionally, we provide suggested texts that comply with legal requirements. If needed, you can customize the text, logo, layout and more.

8. Website Security

Last but not least: - Ensure your website has an SSL certificate to protect transmitted data. - For visitors, SSL is recognized by the change in the website URL from "http" to "https".

  • Although it is not a legal requirement, SSL enhances your website's security image and even improves your ranking on Google.
  • AdOpt follows this security standard, and if your site does not have SSL, it may cause conflicts when installing the tool.
